International Conference on Children and Armed Conflict held by ANPPCAN & ISPCAN in Kenya

The African Network for the Prevention and Protection against Child Abuse and Neglect (ANPPCAN), a RISE Regional Working group member, and the International Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (ISPCAN) successfully concluded an International Conference on the Impact of Armed Conflict on Children in Nairobi, Kenya from 7-10 February 2016.

The conference provided a forum for key actors from civil society, academia, pan-African institutions and international organisations to deliberate and share information on research, practices and efforts towards the prevention and protection of children in situations of armed conflict.

Key themes discussed included the emergence of terrorism and its impact on children and their families, locally-appropriate psychosocial responses to armed conflict and terrorism, forced migration and displacement, and peacebuilding efforts towards prevention and protection of children in armed conflict and terrorism.
