If we were to implement a learning project on the topic of learning from survivors and their role as peer supporters, experts and advocates in improving practice and policy, with a particular focus on shame, stigma, acceptance, and community integration, what would be the best possible methods or approaches to take?
Learning from survivors could be made easier if they are actively engaged. This could be done by taking them through various activities evolving around self-expression to enable them share their experiences without being tensed or fear. I will suggest activities using art in telling a story, drama, music and dancing.
Survivors should however be empowered on their rights and other social issues for them to be proud of themselves and their self-esteem be boosted before the actual project begins.
