Singing to the Lions Training of the Facilitators Workshop
Singing to the Lions is a new workshop tool by Dr. Jonathan Brakarsh of Zimbabwe with Dr. Lucy Steinitz of Catholic Relief Services that helps children and youth develop skills to resolve the impact of violence and abuse in their lives and to heal. The workshop has been successfully implemented in several countries with promising results, and it is also a lot of fun — using games, art, movement and songs. Participants who sign up for this three-day Training of Facilitators workshop will experience Singing to the Lions first-hand and also have the opportunity to discuss how this might be adapted and implemented in their own settings, across different cultures. For the past two years, J Initiative (JI), a RISE regional working group member, has worked with key child protection stakeholders in the public, private and civil society sectors to mark Safer Internet Day (SID) in Ghana. Organized under this year’s global theme, ‘Be the change: Unite for a better Internet’, the SID 2017 forum was held in Accra on 7 February 2017, with parallel events also occurring in other parts of the country.
